Amanda Burgin 

LCSWA, LCAS-A

 

Amanda is a Family Centered Treatment Practitioner with Preferred Choice Healthcare serving Cleveland and Rutherford counties, North Carolina. Amanda graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2022 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS-A). She is Level 1 Certified in Family Centered Treatment and working toward her Level 2 certification. 

 

Amanda practices from a person-in-environment, family systems, trauma-informed and person-centered theory lens in her work with children and families. She utilizes motivational interviewing, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral strategies to help families meet their goals. She desires for each individual to understand their inherent worth and dignity as a person, to know they matter and, and feel they are loved. 

Amanda’s professional background includes nearly 7 years of experience working in the child welfare system in case management, policy and procedure, and supervisory roles. Her clinical internships included short-term residential substance use treatment and community mental health services for adults experiencing severe persistent mental illness in both residential and day treatment settings. Amanda is passionate about advocacy and macro-level social work along with her direct work with families. She also has special interest and experience working with survivors of human trafficking, as well as Indigenous individuals and communities. 

When not working, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as cuddling the two feline loves of her life- Jazmyn and Jasper. She also enjoys reading, watching documentaries and her favorite shows, playing cozy Switch games and board games, and learning how to watercolor paint.
